I came across Peloton a few years ago looking for a way to get back in shape. I couldn't find a workout that I got excited about and wanted to do every day until I found spinning. I love the intensity of the workout, the music and trying to compete against myself to get better every time. It has now become part of my lifestyle and I can't go more than a few days without getting on a bike! I’ve completed my AFLCA. Group Training certification in cycling and am so excited to share my passion with Peloton! I hope to inspire others to lead a healthier life style and to have fun along the way.

If you could have one thing in your fridge what would it be?
Probably eggs. I eat them for any meal, they are so versatile and a great source of protein!

What do you do to have fun?
I love to cook and share great meals with friends. The meal is always best if it comes after a great ride or hike.

What is your motto in life?
“Just do it” - Set a realistic and measurable goal and commit to achieving it each and every day, no excuses.

Uphill or downhill?
Uphill! I love the challenge and downhill is just scary!

Sweet or salty?
Salty. If I open a bag of chips I can’t stop!

I started indoor cycling classes in my university days to justify my beer and pizza habits. I quickly got hooked on the rush and loved how I could let go of my day and leave it all on the bike. In 2012 I had the opportunity to take a Spinning certification from Mad Dogg Athletics. Teaching has brought so much into my life – I’ve made many beautiful friends, shared countless “spin jams” (some more motivating than others) and reached fitness goals alongside some amazingly dedicated people. I got my first “real” bike a few years ago and have been working on my outdoor riding skills. Participating in rides like the Branch Out Bike Tour have allowed me to see the joy in cycling outdoors and I am thankful for those leg muscles that I’ve developed in class – they have come in handy! When I’m not at the studio, you can find me in the Planning department at City Hall, out in the mountains or spending quality time with all of the sweet people in my life.

I am very grateful to be part of such a great team - there is nothing more satisfying than finishing a class with 30 hot, proud, happy people. I love my Peloton family!

Fun Fact: When I'm not spinning I'm busy urban planning, practicing yoga, cooking, spending time with my family, enjoying good wine with friends, biking, taking my puppy-nephew Ganz for walks, watching NFL and napping.

I wanted to be more involved in helping people reach and surpass their health and fitness goals. As a former racer I felt that I could impart some training knowledge. The new Matrix bikes are awesome at keeping everything honest. What a motivating way to train!

If you had to pick one food to have in your fridge for the rest of your life what would it be?
Oatmeal

If I could take anyone on the amazing race who would I take.
My mother or my father whoever would want to come with me. They are an amazing inspiration in my life and I feel that this type of experience would present a defining experience to both of us.

Uphill or downhill?
Why do we climb the hill? To get to the descent! There is nothing more fun on a bike than a long and windy descent. It always gives us non-climbers a chance to re-balance the day.

Tea or coffee?
Coffee, embrace the athletic benefits of caffeine.

What is the longest aerobic activity you have done.
24/hrs of adrenaline.

What do you do for fun?

I really enjoy cycling. It’s always been an escape for me and I feel better after a few hours on the road or in the mountains. I also love eating and drinking with my friends and family.

Fun Fact -

I fell off a spin bike once while trying to stretch. I only bruised my ego and I stretch off the bike now.

Favorite motto -

Know Thyself

If you could have one thing in your fridge what would it be?

Milk

Hometown?

Saint John, NB

Reason for choosing fitness industry?

I actually run a small Technology company. I instruct at Peloton because I love to ride and I enjoy the people.

Length of time as an instructor?

I started developing classes with Sean and doing Ride-In’s in October 2015.

Things you cant live without?

My Friends and Family, bikes, sunshine, wine, cheese and butter.

Why do I ride?

I put everything into the road/trail/spin bike. All my hopes, dreams, fears and insecurities are reconciled while I ride. Ever since I was a child my bike has been my confidant. My bike taught me to push myself to always do better, to get back up after a brutal crash, to focus and appreciate the here and now.

When I put together a class it is a reflection of this. I want everyone there to loose their breath, to sweat and fight to keep up and to feel a sense of accomplishment at the end. Except for ride in … Ride in is all about watching a movie, burning some calories and socializing.

I have been a lifelong recreational rider who came across Peloton in 2013 and have enjoyed riding, helping and now teaching with this wonderful family ever since. The camaraderie and fun at Peloton is what I think really makes it a special place to work as hard as we do in the classes. Come to my class if you are looking to simulate outdoor road riding and are aiming to get stronger and faster for your next Fondo. I also enjoy leading many of the outdoor group rides we do as a group during the summer, where we get out and enjoy the great roads just outside of Calgary in the Springbank or Priddis areas. These rides really focus on helping everyone feel comfortable and we also tailor the rides to suit a wide range of abilities. As one of the more experienced (ok I’m the oldest) instructors at Peloton I continue to learn every time I ride, from all the other amazing instructors, and encourage everyone to try different rides to get the different experiences. I hope to see you in one of my classes, ride beside me in other instructors classes or outside on the road.

If you could have one thing in your fridge what would it be?

I need two, peanut butter and honey as that is my favourite sandwich.

Fun Fact

In 2006 I had some time off in the summer and rode from Vancouver to Thunder Bay for a 30 day ride.

Most fun bike ride?

In 2015 I was lucky enough to travel to Spain and ride with a large group of Peloton riders in the Gredos area of Spain, for a week of unbelievable riding and fun. Ask me about it anytime.

Uphill or downhill?

Up, up and away, I love the challenge and sense of accomplishment.

Sweet or salty?

Sweet, I ride to satisfy my sweet tooth especially chocolate.

Beer or Scotch?

How can you choose? Like air and water you need both to live, just not at the same time.

I started as a distance runner and got sucked into triathlon, I have recently realized that riding bikes is a lot more fun when you can ride in a group and don't have to swim before....Especially if it's a group such as the one at Peloton! I love coaching so that I can showcase my eclectic taste in music!

If you could have one thing in your fridge what would it be?

Beer - Now that I'm "retired" from competitive sport (for now) I ride to keep some balance in life and balance requires something on the other side of the scale.

What do you do to have fun?

Run, play golf, any type of cycling, patio sport drinking, and student for life (working on my third fancy piece of paper).

What is your motto in life?

You're in or you're in the way. I always go full on into anything I try.

Hometown?

Calgary is my hometown but I spent a few years in Los Angeles and it is now a home away from home.

Fun Facts?

I set an Official Guinness World Record for the Fastest Linked Marathon (10 guys tied together) in 2013! I also love McDonald's.
